In this episode…
Burlington Vermont, stopped at a shop on the way. The sign outside was missing the T. The VT General Sore in Addison VT, VT sweatshirts and VT maple candy. Had to pee outside in the VT potty where heavy set men have been jerking often.
Then back on the road to Burlington VT. Got Ryan P beside me. Got a hotel room like grown ups do. A bucket of ice cubes dispensed in cement rooms. The glow of vending lights up the ends of hallways. The ding of ‘vators elevating to this level. Groaning from the weight of carts of room freebies. Towels, shower caps, some freeze dried coffee, cranky ladies in stiff white frocks diabetic socks. A crush on the bellhop.
Paramount was walking from downtown to the bay, it’s lake Champlain, the ice is insane. The breakwater stops the flow of warm water to the shore. The ferry is frozen in place. The core creaks from the weight. From the pressure below where the fishes are frozen. Scales are all cold. Gills are motionless mostly.
Ryan P and me are gazing out at the mountains, gazing down at the ice shelf, we’re like arctic explorers.
One morning we sat in a booth at a diner where a gold plaque stated that Bill Clinton had sat there. Was it my butt or the butt of Ryan P
that rubbed on molecules left over from Bill Clinton’s B.
