Fibrous flakes with dried wild blueberries and frosted sugar edges is what I call “breakfast”. Maybe some strong Ecuadorian tea and a plant watering before I read through the phonebook and fail to find an automotive business willing to remove my dead old relative as she prepares for the indignity of a public disintegration. At least use her organs for transplants you monsters!
A few weeks have passed and I watch her from my bedroom window as I spend every morning and most nights trying to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life. Day after day, I sit here spinning the same wheels in the same creaking wooden chair, and decide it’s time to stop thinking before I run out of living. I’m surrounded by scraps of paper, most of which boast a sentence fragment or two: thoughts I don’t trust to memory. This brings me to tears or at least results in a throat muscle contraction and deep breaths through the nose. What is this computer, this bottle of water from two days ago, this stack of books and periodicals? What are these animal hands?
